Hollywood Boulevard / A1A Ramps to Close August 17th and on August 20th for Paving

Construction Update:
Hollywood Boulevard / A1A Ramps to Close August 17th and on August
20th for Paving.

We received a copy of this e-mail yesterday from Rick Mitinger, an
engineer who works for the city and is helping mitigate the A1A
construction. Please advise your staff and anyone else who may need
to know this. Here are Rick’s comments and advisory from his message:

Tomorrow (Friday, August 17th), they expect to close the southbound to
westbound ramp from A1A to Hollywood Boulevard and the eastbound to
southbound ramp mentioned above. On Monday,(August 20th) they plan to
close the ramp from eastbound Hollywood boulevard to northbound A1A
and the ramp serving northbound traffic on A1A wishing to go west on
Hollywood Boulevard. No closures will be implemented during the
weekend.

It is recognized that this work is extremely disruptive and better
motorist guidance should have initially been provided, but it is one
of the more critical paving aspects of this project and the work must
be done. The project staff was well aware of the associated impacts,
but made a conscious decision to do the work now rather than during
the upcoming “tourist season” which would have had a much more severe
impact on the community.

I fully understand how frustrating this must be and how your business,
and others, has been impacted but I believe that all will be pleased
with the final results upon the project’s completion. I have been in
close contact with FDOT since this project began and will continue to
do so. Therefore, if any additional related issues arise, please do
not hesitate to contact me directly and I will do everything I can to
assist you.

Best regards,
Rick Mitinger, P.E.
