Hollywood Beach Sweep Clean-Up

Help keep Hollywood Beach beautiful by volunteering for the Hollywood Beach Sweep Clean-Up on Saturday, August 11th from 7:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Charnow Park, 300 Connecticut Street and the Hollywood Beach Broadwalk. Volunteers meet to collect litter and cigarette butts from the sandy beach. Volunteers are asked complete the registration form found on the City’s website under Beach Sweep. Every October we see huge luxury yachts cruise up the Intracoastal to dock at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. The show is not passing us by however as many of our hotels host the attendees and dealers who come from all over the world. We’re preparing to roll out the welcome mat since many people who go to the show want to enjoy a night on the town or entertain their clients and Hollywood Beach offers an incredible experience. Google 360 Tour of Broadwalk

Google 360 Tour of Broadwalk You may have seen those live maps where you can click and take a tour of your favorite attractions or your hometown streets on Google. You can also do just that for the beach broadwalk. Filmed using a camera mounted atop a backpack, Google let’s you click and tour the broadwalk. You can try it by typing in any address on the beach such as: 101 S. Broadwalk, Hollywood. FL 33019. Beach businesses can extend the tour into their stores – contact the HBBA for details.

We’re happy to embrace the recycling plans that are being formulated by the city. Residents have been able to earn rewards from for using the blue recycling cans. Since September 19, 2016, all City of Hollywood Sanitation Customers are able to register for Recycling Perks, to earn reward points for placing their recycling carts out for weekly collection. Registered participants can earn up to $25 in discounts a month and $300 in discounts each year. Summering on the Beach A busy July Fourth saw thousands of people on the sands and under the stars for an amazing fireworks display. Even after long waits in traffic and a threat of rain everyone had a great time. Hopefully the A1A construction will be complete by next year’s celebration. Independence Day brings locals and visitors together for one of the biggest celebrations on the beach. Many others watched the pyrotechnics from the shores of North and South Lake as well as from the top levels of the downtown parking garages. Hayes Street at A1A will remain closed through Friday, May 25 at 7 a.m. for side street paver installation.
